‘Aashiqui 2′ remains top box-office pick for Jaipurites; ‘Aurangzeb’ disappoints

LUV U. Unfortunately, both of them disappointed.

The Rishi Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Jackie Shroff and Sasheh Aagha starrer, Aurangzeb, was expected to open well but proved nothing but an unlucky bet for the film distributors, with movie registering 20-25 percent occupancy at the theatres.

Aurangzeb collected Rs.3 crores 69 lakhs in India and Rs.20 lakhs in Rajasthan. In Jaipur, movie grossed approximately Rs.11 lakhs. Whereas, Ruslaan Mumtaz and Chetna Pande starrer, I Don’t Luv U fall flat at the box-office, with a below 10 percent start. In Rajasthan, it collected less than Rs.2 lakhs and the Jaipur collections were even more worse.

Last week’s release “Go Goa Gone” starring Saif Ali Khan, inspite of receiving good reviews from critics remained strictly average at the ticket windows.

Due to film’s nice appeal, it was restricted to certain audience. As things stand, the film had collected Rs.20 crores in its first week, which is decent but lesser than what everyone expected from this zom-com affair, says Gaurav Gaur, Rajasthan film distributor, O’Real Imaginations.

In Jaipur, film collected Rs.54 lakhs and in Rajasthan Rs.1.10 crores in its first week which is again decent but nothing extra ordinary. But due its low budget, film will emerge as a profitable venture for makers, Gaur said further.

Meanwhile, Bhatt camp’s romantic-musical ‘Aashiqui 2′ still remains the first choice for movie fans in Jaipur as well as in India. Movie raked in approximately 64 crores in 3 weeks, which is huge. Hence, the movie emerged as the first block-buster film of 2013, concluded Gaur.
